Lymph-edemas are tissue fluid swellings, usually on the arms or legs, which occur as a result of impaired lymphatic drainage. Clinical symptoms and signs depend on the severity of the lymph-edema. In the 1th stage of lymphedema, the edema is soft and pits easily with pressure(pitting edema) and may decrease with elevation of the limbs. In the 2-3 stage, the skin texture turns woody as surrounding tissue becomes fibrotic. The methods of diagnosis are history taking, physical examination, lymphangiography, MRI etc. The main treatment is complex decong5estive physical therapy, and other treatments are surgery, medicine etc.
